32G FC SFP28 transceivers are preferred for mission-critical SAN workloads. Smartoptics has SFP28 transceivers that are uniquely approved for Brocade. SFP28 transceivers tested and approved for Cisco are also available. SFP28 transceivers are not only used for 32G Fibre Channel but also support 25G Ethernet. This is advantageous for break-out applications, as four SFP28 transceivers running 25G Ethernet can be aggregated to one QSFP28 100G ethernet plug.
QSFP28 and SFP28 DAC and AOC
QSFP28 and SFP28 Direct Attach Copper (DAC) cables provide a complete cable assembly instead of discrete components for short-distance connectivity. QSFP28 and SFP28 Active Optical Cables (AOCs) are also complete cable assemblies but use real transceivers and are suitable for longer distances.
