NTT COMMUNICATIONS PURCHASES SMARTOPTICS OPEN LINE SYSTEMS

NTT Communications, a global Tier-1 ICT solutions provider based in Japan, chose the Smartoptics DCP-R ROADMs to interconnect major data centers in Tokyo and accelerate the expansion of its research and development network.

The DCP-M open line system was chosen to support increased fiber utilization. The open line system solution will be used for both 100G and 400G DWDM. NTT Communications is one of the largest ICT providers in the world with a global network that spans over 190 countries and regions and more than 500,000m2 of the world's most advanced data center facilities.

NTT Communications is the leading global provider of information and communications technology (ICT) solutions within NTT Group, which ranks in the top 100 of the Fortune Global 500. The ICT solutions provided include cloud, network and security services. The company’s world-class infrastructure includes optical submarine cables, state-of-the-art data centers and a global Tier-1 IP backbone. NTT Communications has won The Smart Cities Award and Environmental Impact Award at World Communication Awards 2020.

400G technology for innovation

NTT Communications purchased the DCP-M8 open line system for running 100G DWDM and the DCPM40 open line system with support for 400G. The capability to run the latest 400G technology is aligned with NTT Communications’ role as a leading ICT innovator. The DCP-M open line systems will be used to support increased fiber utilization in NTT Communications’ global network.

ROADMs for a next-generation network of data centers

NTT Communications conducted a comprehensive evaluation process to find a good fit for its research and development network. As a result, the company purchased the DCP-R ROADM to accelerate the expansion of this research and development network and interconnect large-scale data centers in the Tokyo region. These data centers are a part of the company’s next-generation, global network of data centers in more than 20 countries and regions.
