The Role
You’ll be part of a growing, collaborative team where knowledge sharing, and teamwork are core values. As a Senior Technical Support Engineer, you’ll be part of and work closely with the TAC team to deliver high quality technical solutions, solve complex challenges, and support long term adoption of the platform for our customers. You’ll act as a key technical contact throughout trouble shooting sessions and resolution finding.
To become an expert on Smartoptics solutions we offer extensive training to get a deep knowledge of all aspects of Smartoptics product portfolio, including hardware, software & optical designs.
This position also includes handling Level 2 and Level 3 support, carrying out deeper investigations, troubleshooting advanced issues, and keeping internal documentation accurate and up to date.
What You'll Do
- Support the TAC team with technical expertise and mentorship
- Manage Level 2 & 3 escalations, ensuring thorough investigation and resolution
- Document findings, system updates, and configuration changes
- Understand customer requirements and design tailored technical solutions
- Create reports and compile root cause analysis together with R&D
- Deliver internal training through calls, workshops, and demos
- Act as the customer’s internal voice, highlighting improvement opportunities

Requirements
- 5-7 years of experience in optical networks in the areas of technical support, deployment, engineering, or operations
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering is expected to be successful in this role
- Experience working in TAC or NOC environment
- Strong practical experience with network transport technologies, including Ethernet DWDM and OTN
- Knowledge of IP networking, including TCP/IP, IPv4/IPv6, routing and switching fundamentals, VLANs, and network troubleshooting.
- Strong experience working with Linux-based systems
- Experience with test electronic instruments and Lab activities related to optical fiber communication and operations
- Experience in managing technical investigations, including Level 2 and Level 3 escalations
- A deep interest in technology and understanding how things are engineered to work
- Strong eye for detail and deep analysis to understand the root cause of problems
- Communication skills: must be able to communicate fluently in English and Swedish, both verbally and in writing
