You will have direct contact with suppliers and play a key role in ensuring products meet Smartoptics’ performance and quality expectations.
The role is based in Stockholm and includes 1–2 business trips per year, typically about one week each.
We have an office-first policy, with some possibility to work from home.
What You'll Do
- Qualify transceivers and optical components in the lab using instruments, evaluation boards, temperature chambers, and Smartoptics platforms
- Build and maintain Python-based automated tests and instrument control for qualification
- Analyze results, document findings, and collaborate with internal resources (Product Management, Purchase, R&D) and suppliers to troubleshoot issues and verify fixes
About You
To succeed in this role, you have a few years of relevant experience and can work independently. You are structured and detail-oriented, but also able to see the bigger picture. You communicate clearly, both in writing and in technical discussions and you’re curious and motivated to learn.
You have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Communication Engineering, Engineering Physics, Optics, or another hardware-oriented engineering field.
Required Experience
- Working in a lab environment with electronic/optical instruments
- Python programming (writing maintainable scripts, test automation, data handling)
- Creating test documentation and writing clear test reports
Merits (Nice to Have)
- Fiber-optic communication fundamentals and telecom networking products
- Experience with optical systems and common optical instruments used in telecom
- Automating lab instruments via standard interfaces (SCPI/VISA; GPIB/USB/LAN; serial)
- C# and .NET framework programming skills to maintain internally developed tools used in qualification
- Experience in working with suppliers and product qualification/verification processes
